Pokémon Sword and Shield are forthcoming role-playing video games produced by Game Freak and announced for the Nintendo Switch by The Pokémon Company and Nintendo. Initially announced at the 2017 announcement at Nintendo's E3, they were officially launched on February 27, 2019 and be the first new series titles in the Pokémon franchise's eighth iteration and the second in the sequence.
